About Us
We are a mission and a community-driven press dedicated to amplifying the voices of Latinx, Black, Indigenous, people of color, and marginalized underrepresented communities that have long been appropriated from and silenced by traditional publishing channels.
At Spirit Bound Press, we are firm believers in the power of authenticity. We understand that publishing writers who have genuine roots, cultures, practices, and experiences is not only essential but also crucial in disrupting cultural appropriation. Our mission is to ensure that the books we share with the world are true representations of the communities we embrace and are a part of. As conduits of truth, we bring forth the rich stories, wisdom, medicine, and magic that our communities hold, amplifying their voices and celebrating their unique contributions. Together, we are rewriting the narrative and paving the way for a more inclusive and empowering literary landscape.
We are passionate advocates for diversification in literature and publishing, striving to create an equitable press that truly represents the values and diversity of the authors and communities we serve. We honor antiracist, decolonial, and inclusive principles, ensuring that our publishing practices align with our commitment to empowering marginalized voices.
We are dedicated to supporting our authors every step of the way. We offer equitable publishing deals with a remarkable 40% royalty rate, approximately four times the industry average. Our team of experts coaches, supports, and guides authors throughout their writing journey, helping them build authentic communities aligned with their message, values, and beliefs. Additionally, we provide invaluable assistance in developing book launch campaigns and creating comprehensive marketing plans through our in-house PR team.
As an author with Spirit Bound Press, you gain a free membership to our exclusive educational and social networking platform, Literary Craft Society (LCS). LCS is a hub of knowledge and community, offering courses, workshops, and events on topics such as decolonizing your writing, reclaiming your voice, growing your social media presence, promoting your book, and even crafting a bestselling novel. Coming soon in late 2023, LCS will be accessible to the public, providing a valuable resource for aspiring authors.

Spirit Bound Press: Empowering Diverse Voices in Spirituality and Wellness.

Our Story
Juliet Diaz, a true beacon of empowerment in the spiritual and magical community, has made her mark as a renowned author and influential voice. But her journey goes far beyond her own success. When she was invited to be a mentor for a program aimed at more diversity after countless people demanded change at her former publisher, she witnessed firsthand the lack of understanding and support for diverse authors. This program was not an attempt for genuine change; this was a bandaid and one that she could see right through.
This eye-opening experience and the revelations from the #PublishingPaidMe hashtag exposed the deep-rooted inequality in the industry. Despite her bestselling book, which consistently topped the charts and garnered a devoted following, she was offered meager advances and royalty rates for her subsequent works. Not only was she being taken advantage of, but so was her community, which did not sit right with her. In the face of dismissiveness from her former publisher, Juliet took a courageous step. As an Indigenous Taino Cubana, an activist, and a firm believer in equality, she made the decision to leave traditional publishing.
True to her values, Juliet knew she had to take a risk to advocate for what she stood for. Her community means everything to her, so she started her journey to dismantle these harmful systems and programs to ensure that the voices of the communities she embraces and is a part of have people advocating for them. Enter Rebekah Borucki, the founder of Row House, who had also parted ways with the same publisher. Rebekah approached Juliet, extending an invitation to join Row House as their first author and become a faith investor on the RH council. While other traditional publishers vied for Juliet's attention, the profound alignment of values with Row House captured her heart.
Drawing on her experience as a multiple bestselling and award-winning author, as well as her influential community leadership, Juliet recognized the importance of creating space for voices like hers that had been taken advantage of, appropriated, and silenced. And so, Spirit Bound Press was born.
Spirit Bound Press is more than a publisher; We ARE the community. With an unwavering mission to fill shelves with diverse and inclusive books in spirituality and wellness, Juliet and her team are dedicated to reclaiming what was taken from our communities. Through Spirit Bound Press, an empowering and inspiring movement takes shape.
Join us on this extraordinary journey, where the power of diverse voices shines bright. Together, we will transcend boundaries, ignite change, and foster a community that uplifts and empowers. Spirit Bound Press invites you to reclaim your story, embrace your wisdom, and rediscover the magic within.
